JAMES R. SIMPSON has a BS degree from North Carolina State University and an MBA degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After a tour in the US Navy, he was with First Union National Bank (now Wells Fargo). Mr. Simpson opened the Charlotte office of Trammell Crow Residential in 1984, and his TCR office initiated 29 communities incorporating over 7,000 apartment homes until May of 1998, when he helped form Wood Partners. He heads Wood Partners' operations in the Carolinas, the Midwest, Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Through its four offices in Charlotte, Charleston, Durham, and Washington, Wood Partners has started development of over 10,400 apartment homes and has constructed almost 700 additional apartment homes for third-parties. The properties developed or built by Wood Partners from these four offices have a combined cost of over $1,165 million. A native North Carolinian, Mr. Simpson has served as Board Member and President of the Charlotte Apartment Association and Board Member of the Apartment Association of North Carolina. He currently serves on the Multifamily Leadership Board of the National Association of Homebuilders and is Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, a non-profit organization based in Charlotte. |
